Analysis of USA.gov Shortened Links
Yesterday USA.gov organized hacakthons for analyzing the data generated from Government pages shortened via bit.ly I thought that it will be interesting to find links from which Government agency domains are commonly shortened at a particular point of time and from what location. I used the R code from the git repository of Harlan where he has functions for parsing the archives of the shortened URLs from 1.USA.gov (details of data can be found here) I made some minor changes to find the top 10 agencies from which the links where shortened and originated from USA, I modified the code slightly for this purpose which can be found here. So finally here is the plot generated using ggplot2 which shows the location of generation of top 10 Government agency (agency domain) links
In this image it is clear all across US Whitehouse.gov and House.gov are commonly shared also we see that OK.gov links are concentrated around Oklahoma City. I just wanted to do a preliminary analysis of the data, in future I will do a more detailed analysis of this interesting data.

Awesome article.
